I really wanted to like this book since it was given to me by the author. As another reviewer has already said, there were many inconsistencies and gramatical errors. The plot was totally predictable. From very early on, you knew pretty much knew what was going to happen. I suppose my biggest objection is that it is labled "Christian," but much of the story centers around the town saloon. At one point the hero has a drinking session with the barkeeper who happens to be the heroine's best friend. Bella North is upset with her father who has told her that he has arranged a marriage between his best friend, Mike, and Bella. Bella has always thought of Big Mike as a father figure. He is about the same age as her father, and she doesn’t think she could ever love him as a husband, but Jacob is very adamant about the marriage. She tries to talk to her father about it, but he refuses to listen. When Bella is in the wrong place when there is a problem between two men, she ends up getting shot. It is because of this that she meets Dr. Pace Carlisle. She is very impressed with the doctor and how he has taken care of her, but her father doesn’t trust any doctor because he feels that they are all “quacks” due to the fact that his wife and son weren’t able to be saved after they had been severely injured in a stampede several years before.Soon Bella and Pace begin to have strong feelings for each other, but Bella’s father will not allow that. As their feelings for each other grow it begins to look like Bella will have to choose between her father and the man she loves. What choice will she make? The characters are well developed and feel like a part of your family. There is plenty of action to keep you interested. This is a wonderful book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance.I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
